Castle Links v$version

Administrative Control Panel

Castle Links has detected that your links database may be approaching a size that could cause database management problems.  This warning occurs when the size of the file containing the links passes $max_k kilobytes in size.

Castle Links uses a flat file storage system, that means that all the links are stored in a standard text file.  Because of this, problems can occur when the file gets to large.  Problems that can arise are: performance problems, and resource problems.  Performance problems are things like slow loading of the links page and a general slow down of the script.  Resource problems are strains on the computer system.

While most web servers should be able to handle the load without much of a problem, this is to serve as a warning.  You may want to cut back the number of links in the database, this is generally good maintenance to do so anyway.

We consider $max_k kilobytes a reasonable limit.  If you wish to delete some links, we have a clean up utility that will help you decide.  The link cleanup program will look at two things.  One, the date the link was created, if it is older than the number of days you select.  Two, the category, if the category no longer exists, but the link is still there.  Once it completes, you will be presented with a list and you can select the ones to delete.

Warning Limit:  $max_k kilobytes
Current Size:  $current_k kilobytes
Difference: $difference kilobytes
